the children

At First Presbyterian, all children are welcome to attend our worship service.  They are also considered ministers of the congregation and as they grow, they learn to serve, lead, and share their faith.

The children of First Presbyterian Church are active in worship in a variety of ways.  Liturgists from the Confirmation Class (eight grade) read scripture, say a prayer, or lead the call to worship.  Musicians play instruments and sing.

Worship Bags, with activities for children to enjoy during the service, are available outside the sanctuary doors.

During the "school year," children may attend Sunday School.  It is from 10:15-11:00 a.m. on Sundays,  The children and Sunday school teachers are dismissed at that time, from worship, to go to their classrooms.

We look forward to welcoming you this Sunday and every Sunday!

A TIME FOR ALL AGES

  • Kaleidescope

    3 yrs - Kindergarten

Children through the age of 6 participate in our wonderful Kaleidoscope program, which is an age-appropriate worship experience which engages children in vibrant expressions of worship, prayer and Christian community

  • Grades 1 thru 7

We believe that our children need a chance to wonder about God and to ask questions that they have about their faith. Sunday school is the perfect opportunity for the kids to come and learn in an interactive environment. In Sunday school, our children also build friendships that last a lifetime.

  • Confirmation

    8th and 9th grade

Young people at First Presbyterian are discovering faith, challenging each other, and creating community. They are living their faith in fun, in worship, in mission, and in learning. Our confirmation class meets each Sunday morning during the Sunday School hour.

    Together they…

    • Explore Scripture—learning the stories of faith, developing new insights, and applying faith to everyday life
    • Create Community—getting to know new friends, praying for each other and the church, having fun!
    • Respond to God’s Love—seeking ways to respond to God’s call in our lives through mission and service
  • Youth Ministry

    (after confirmation)

Our high schoolers have a passion for serving others, and having fun together. Each year, we go on a summer service trip within the country.  Additionally, the youth partake in various smaller service projects and fundraisers throughout the school year.  There are opportunities for the youth to connect through lock-ins and other social events.

The staffing of our nursery is currently being handled by members of the high school group.
