Music at First Presbyterian
Music is an important part of worship at First Presbyterian Church. The congregation has a strong singing tradition, and the organ, choir, and congregation join together musically not only to worship God but also to communicate God's presence. Our choir, children's choir and bell choir each contribute to our worship experience.
Music is also one of the bridges between First Presbyterian Church and the greater community. We are the proud home of the Racine Kiwanis Youth Symphony Orchestra, and our beautiful sanctuary has become a popular venue for other musical groups including the Racine Symphony Orchestra. In additional, our "Music and More" summer concert series draws musicians from throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
The Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir, led by Alejandro Alumbreros and accompanied by Jerry Buck, is a group of volunteers who sing regularly during the Sunday morning service. They are a significant and much appreciated part of worship. Music ranges from gospel to classical, a cappella or accompanied by piano or pipe organ. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The Bell Choir
Led by director Nancy Buck, our bell choir rehearses on Wednesday
evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and plays during worship once a month.
Covering five bell octaves and three chime octaves, our bell choir enjoys
various styles of music, and has even commissioned an original piece,
“Celebration Tapestry” from composer Kevin McChesney.
The Children's Choir
Fumi Nakayama is the director of the First Presbyterian Church Children’s Choir. Practicing on Sunday mornings and singing in worship at various times throughout the year, this choir brings great life and energy to our worship!
